How I Spent My Wednesday Evening

From The Missed Adventures of Chin
Caribana is only a couple sleeps away which means the band camps are insanely busy. Playing again this year (again with Tribal Knights) I decided to volunteer some time since I’m still unemployed.

Drove over to Scarborough at 5pm and didn’t get home til 3am this morning. I guess this is what factory/slave labour is like. A factory space filled with people and rows and rows of the same product.

But I’m not complaining. They had soca on the stereo All. Night. Long.

I’m sure a child labourer in Jiangxi Province could appreciate that!

All in all it was fun and good to actually do something productive.

Also i should mention this interesting tid bit to all my single guy friends:

there are 150 people in our section alone (the blue team)
there are a total of 15 guys in the section
Caribana can involve dancing and wineing up on gals in lovely outfits for a couple of hours
interested in playing next year, gents?

My Friend Jon is a Retard: The Movie

by chinwhat at 9:21 p.m.
Here is my movie adaptation of Al's classic My Friend Jon is a Retard post

Playing Al will be a Billy Dee Williams type of robo actor and for John, a young Aussie Charleton Heston. Enjoy.

Got the idea from my cousin's CB4 vs Andrea movie:

"Living crazy, that's the only way!" (C) Michael Jackson

by chinwhat at 8:43 p.m.
I hate white, don’t you?

It’s so boring and plain.

Life should be about flavour and this is what happens when ideas in my brain get painted on my walls.

btw, my dad saw the progress of the blue walls, some of the stripes and the orange wall. when asked "what do you think?" his only response was "wild." hahaha

World of Goo Review: Like Sitting on a Toilet

by chinwhat at 9:41 p.m.
Usually whenever I make a reference to pooh, its something bad.

“That’s shitty.”
“It deserves to be defecated on”
“Craptastic!”

But not this time! Playing this game feels like a satisfying session of sitting on the throne.

Let me explain.

World of Goo is a quirky puzzle game on Nintendo’s Wii (also available for PC)

At its most basic level, it’s a highly addictive bridge building game where the goal of each of the 30+ boards is to build a bridge from one end of the level to the other.

The level design is extremely clever and each proceeding one ramps up the difficulty at a comfortable rate while at the same time introducing new concepts.

With an excellent physics engine, each Goo ball reacts and stretches and supports and bends as you’d expect it to.

Levels are challenging enough to keep you guessing and trying out different approaches, yet easy enough to complete that you never want to throw the Wiimote at the TV (at least not on purpose).

And this is why I the only way I could explain the satisfaction of completing a level is like taking a really really good shit! (Yes, you know the ones I’m talking about. There’s that sense of relief once you flush the toilet, wash your hands and leave the commode.)

As for the art style and music, the best way I could describe them is whimsical. (the soundtrack has been getting regular rotation lately) This totally fits the game’s narrative and story. Original and clever.

And what’s just as amazing is that this was essentially created by two people! Two! If you have 1500 WiiPoints or $20USD, you HAVE TO try this game. It absolutely deserves it. If you still have reservations, you could always download the demo here, or come over and try it out at my place!
